Our Impact:

How we change the world for children.

FIGHTING FOR CHANGE IN REMOTE RURAL COMMUNITIES IN ZIMBABWE

Since the inception of our #100Scholarships initiative we have saved the lives of children that would never have gone to school otherwise due to financial challenges. We have given hope to these families in the remote areas of Zimbabwe.

We began our progress in the Musena Resettlement Community in the Midlands province of Zimbabwe. We selected 100 children from 100 families in 21 villages. 70% of these children were girls. We primarily target children who have been orphaned, the disabled, the vulnerable, and impoverished children with no options for school.

Compared to boys, girls face unique difficulties when they stay out of school. Some of them are sexually abused by their stepfathers, while others are recruited into child labor. They face exploitation, and many are subject to early marriages. As they grow, most of them become single mothers. But with more education for girls and young women, we reduce poverty by giving them the educational tools to fight poverty. For example, girls and women can earn higher wages, build their families, and better the communities they live in. Educated women are more likely to educate their children, improving livelihoods and reducing extreme hunger and poverty in remote communities.
